Getting to the Goal

I want to share a #LifeLesson that we always hear about and probably say we do but don’t actually move forward with and that is setting goals.

We always hear throughout our lives that if we want to achieve something we need to set the goal and then go for it. Honestly though, where I feel most of us fail, we say we want to achieve something but we never cement it or make it real and then we fail to reach out goals.

So, I want to give you some #HelpfulHints that I’ve picked up on that I believe can help you too! So let’s get to it!

We’ve grown up hearing about setting SMART goals. This is key for the basics of setting up your goals. You can’t just go out and say “I’m going to lose 50lbs in 2 weeks”. First of all, this is unhealthy but it’s also not very realistic. This process takes a little bit of time and thought, but is an important step. You need to sit and really think this out. If you have large goals, what are some smaller ones you can achieve in a shorter time frame to build to that larger one. This builds from the daily, to weekly, monthly and so on.

What I mean by this is, you need to make them tangible. WRITE THEM DOWN! It doesn’t matter how or where but give them physical form. Then, place them where you will see them regularly. Calendar, mirror, wallet- wherever is best for you. This can be your gentle reminder of why you are doing what you are doing and it makes them real.

This is a little more difficult, but extremely doable. You need to breathe life into your goals. Believe they are real and they will be. Every person I believe to be successful does this. Instead of praying “Please help me” believe and say “Thank you for helping me achieve X”. By believing you’ve already achieved your goal, we change on a deeper level and attract the change we want to see. Live on purpose! This step takes time and conscious effort to achieve.

Get plugged in! Commroderate with like minded individuals that share your passions or support you in your goals. These people are your support too for when you need a gentle (or not so gentle) nudge to keep you going. It’s sometimes nice too when you have someone to check in with you and ask “Hey did you do such and such today?”

    1. CHILL OUT

We are sometimes our hardest critic. We beat ourselves up more than we should. So, with this atep, give yourself a break if things don’t go according to plan. This is the time to reevaluate what you did AND what you didn’t do. What could you have done differently? Then it’s time. To start the goal process over.

I leave you with this. This is a process.  Be mindful of it. Be purposeful in your actions. And never forget, you can do anything you set your mind to!

Until Next Time
